What we actually specialise in
Most locksmiths work on locks. We work on doors. That distinction sounds like marketing until you have had a lock replaced three times on a door that keeps failing, because the problem was never the lock — it was a door that had dropped on worn hinges, a frame that had racked, or a closer that stopped pulling the door into its strike two years ago.
Our core work is commercial door hardware: closers, exit devices, master key systems, aluminium storefronts, hollow metal doors and frames, fire-rated assemblies and access control. We handle the complete opening, which is why commercial clients call us for the problems a lock-only shop cannot finish.
Alongside that we do automotive keys — every key type for virtually every make, cut and programmed at the vehicle including all-keys-lost — and break-in repair, which is the work where speed and doing it right the first time matter most.
How we price
We quote before dispatching, not after arriving. The figure you are given on the phone is the figure on the invoice, barring something about the door we genuinely could not have known.
That is worth stating plainly because the opposite is common in this trade: a very low advertised price, a technician who arrives and cites unforeseen complications, and a final bill several times the quote. If any locksmith will not commit to a figure before sending someone, that is the reason.
Our rate is the same across the whole GTA. There is no distance surcharge that appears on the invoice for Whitby or Halton Hills.
What we will tell you not to buy
A high-security cylinder on a door beside a single-glazed window is money spent on the strongest link in a weak chain. A smart lock on a door with an unreinforced strike is opened by one kick, exactly as the old lock was. A very expensive deadbolt screwed into a softwood jamb will be defeated by the jamb, not the bolt.
In each of those cases the cheaper fix does more, and we would rather sell you the cheaper fix and keep you as a customer. The single highest-value upgrade on almost any door is a full-length reinforcing strike anchored into the framing stud, and it costs a fraction of a lock.
Compliance is not optional
Exit devices, fire-rated door assemblies, maglocks and access control on egress doors are governed by the Ontario Building Code and Fire Code, and getting them wrong creates a genuine life-safety hazard rather than a paperwork problem. We have removed maglocks installed with no emergency release and no fire-alarm interface, and chained fire exits in occupied buildings.
Where a locking arrangement you want is not permitted, we will say so and propose the compliant way to solve the actual problem — which, for unauthorised use of a rear exit, is an alarmed exit device rather than a padlock.
